Building RTI Capacity from The Meadows Center for Preventing Educational Risk

The Building RTI Capacity for Implementation in Texas Schools project is part of the Meadows Center for Preventing Educational Risk (MCPER) within the College of Education at the University of Texas at Austin. Funded by the Texas Education Agency for more than 10 years, we promote evidence-based practices and resources to build Texas schools’ capacity for implementing Response to Intervention (RTI). Our goal is to help schools use RTI to increase student achievement by reducing the number of students with learning and behavior difficulties

    RTI Action Network

RTI holds the promise of ensuring that all children have access to high quality instruction, and that struggling learners – including those with learning disabilities – are identified, supported, and served early and effectively.

Response to intervention (RTI) and multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) integrates assessment and intervention within a multi‐level prevention system to maximize student achievement and reduce behavior problems. With MTSS/RTI, schools use data to identify students at risk for poor learning outcomes, monitor student progress, provide evidence‐based interventions and adjust the intensity and nature of those interventions depending on a student’s responsiveness, and identify students with learning disabilities or other disabilities. The four essential components of an MTSS/RTI framework are screening, progress monitoring, multi-level or multi-tier prevention system, and data-based decision making

    Resources for Parents and Families

    RTI Action Network

Families are critical partners in effective implementation of RTI.  As states and school districts work to implement an RTI process that provides early help to struggling students, parents need to understand the essential components of RTI and the roles they can play in supporting their child’s success.
